May Measurement Month (MMM)
May Measurement Month (MMM) is a global awareness campaign spearheaded by the International Society of Hypertension (ISH), which represents allied health professionals around the world who all have a common interest in hypertension (high blood pressure) research.
Hypertension is the leading risk factor in global deaths through complications such as heart attacks and strokes. Increasing access to blood pressure screening may be the single most effective way of decreasing the tolls that hypertension takes on health. Thus, since its inception in 2017, MMM has aimed to increase access by offering the world’s largest free public blood pressure screening to participants across the globe. 2017 was also the year that MMM was first launched in Canada through the combined efforts of Hypertension Canada and a coalition of UBC healthcare students from the Faculties of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Sign up to help out at locations all over Metro Vancouver (including Vancouver, Burnaby, and Surrey) during May Measurement Month, the world’s largest public high blood pressure screening. Work together with students from nursing students, medical students, pharmacy students, and other faculties to educate and screen the public for hypertension. Sign up forms for different faculties can be found below:
